Sunny Yoga was created in 2011 when Sunny and Shannon McGill started out on a tiny oceanside shala on one of Koh Phangan’s most picturesque beaches with only one class. Sunny had dreamed of building her own school and steadily pursued her vision over the
years. As Sunny’s teaching evolved with practice, experience and continuing education, more and more students discovered her unique personality and teaching style. Soon, she outgrew the small beach shala and moved to a new space, a beautiful hilltop shala in the heart of Srithanu to accommodate the growing clientele in a serene jungle setting.
In addition to daily drop-in Yoga classes Sunny offers Yoga Teacher Trainings, Meditation Teacher Trainings, various workshops, retreats, and special events. The classes are taught by experienced teachers who reside on the island permanently.
(2017 – 2020) Sunny Yoga shala is situated on a jungled hilltop, surrounded by nature overlooking the green
hills of Koh Phangan and parts of the village of Srithanu. Passionate practitioners and teachers from all around the world are welcome in this sacred space to share and expand their knowledge, allowing one’s true nature to rise and shine. Minimalist simplicity, blending into the natural setting, mark Sunny’s style where all you need to do is take a deep breath and listen to the sounds of the nature to feel the island’s magic to inspire you in your personal practice.
(2021 – present) Even though Sunny Yoga shala may be closed (due to COVID) but Sunny’s teaching kept ongoing. Besides traveling around the world to teach in yoga teacher training, you can catch her drop-in classes (see schedule) when she takes a break on Koh Phangan. You can follow her on social media and get updates on where she will be next!
